Summertime, and the Livin’ is…

Memorial Day weekend is the first breath of relief for us. The kids are out of school and it serves as the kickoff point for summer expectations. When you have kids, summertime sneaks up on you and disappears just as quickly. As much as you’d like to mellow out the first few weeks, you ought to do a few fun things off the bat. This way, there is no pressure to “do stuff” hanging over your head and no feelings of having wasted time come August. At least that’s the way I think.

7304491814_494925b0d5_zWe had our Memorial Day BBQ and took the kids to Medieval Times so far. Now I can coast into a light schedule with swim lessons in the morning, a little “summer school” skill sharpening, and (hopefully) a lot of time at the pool. We’ll do this for a few weeks and then maybe hit the zoo and the Ren Faire and something else, followed by the best thing about summer vacation… having nothing to do.

I have put all writing endeavors on hold and ordered a bunch of  fabric to make blankets instead. I am going to work on crafts while my brain recharges. I am truly on vacation this year, along with my children, and taking full advantage of the (relatively) easy livin.’

Ren Faire rules! I might actually go this year with my little man who is currently obsessing over dragons battling ninjas.
