State of Wonder by Ann Patchett

State of WonderState of Wonder by Ann Patchett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Perhaps it was my terrible cold and ear infection that brought these Amazonian fevers in Ann Patchett's "State of Wonder" to life, but I really and truly enjoyed this book. Manaus and the Brazilian jungles were alive and breathing. I felt the insect bites; I tasted the bark of the Milton tree. Although there were a few very small points that I feel fell by the wayside, such as Dr. Singh's relationship with her father, the big reveal was the one thing I thought would remain unresolved. Well played, Ms. Patchett, and very satisfying.
